What is Canine Wellness? Wellness is the act of practicing healthy habits to help improve or better physical and physiological wellbeing, in this case as it pertains to your dogs.
To understand the significance of wellness, it's important to understand how it is linked to the overall health of your dogs. Dogs, just like humans, can show changes in their usual behaviours or completely different behaviours differently if feeling unwell, stressed or anxious. This is not just in the moment, the bio-chemistry of your dog (as with humans), can alter leaving a dog a little bit on edge for a longer period. Think of the a time when you did not feel 100% well, maybe you had a migraine - were you a little more irritable than normal, did you forge ahead, going for a long stint at the gym? Or maybe you just curled up and went to bed. It's the same for your dogs, when they are not feeling great they may behave a little differently. However we do not always recognize the signs. Your dog may have over stretched a muscles in a game of ball throwing - however due to instinct, prey drive, motor sequence patterns (however we choose to refer to it ) your dog will still chase the ball. Wellness is about keeping their body in balance so that explosive need to chase does not cause muscle issues, or grumpiness, progress to lameness.

Just as we benefit form massages, chiropractic visits have great benefits for your dogs do too. Instead of just surviving, we want your dog to thrive!!

K9 Reiki with Kim Swan
What is Reiki? (pronounced Ray-Key) Rei= soul or spirit Ki= universal life force energy Reiki can be defined in many ways; it is a Japanese spiritual healing practice, used for stress reduction. Reiki helps people achieve a deep state of relaxation which allows the body to return to equilibrium. In this state, the whole body (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual) can harmonize so self-healing can occur. During the reiki sessions, we will focus on balancing the chakras. Reiki is not meant to diagnose, however it does safely support all medical treatments. Reiki is a great tool for any animal owner to learn to help them become part of their pets health care team. This safe, non-invasive energy technique can help strengthen the bond, and is a great way to spend time with your favourite companion. It can help manage stress and discomfort in the body and mind.
K9 Chiropractic Treatment with Dr. A. Verney (DVM)
Like people, dogs can experience health issues that affect their mobility and quality of life. Alongside traditional medicine, your veterinarian might suggest a holistic or whole-body approach to treating your dog. Complementary and alternative medicine is an umbrella term that captures different practices such as acupuncture, chiropractic, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy, massage, and herbal remedies.
According to the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA), chiropractic involves manipulating the spine, extremities, or skull to treat disease. If your dog is predisposed to degenerative joint disease or is living with a debilitating condition, you might be wondering if they can benefit from canine chiropractic. Before looking for a canine chiropractor, however, make sure to consult with your veterinarian.
Tellington T-Touch for Dogs with Dian McTaggert
What is TTouch? TTouch combines observations, bodywork, ground exercises, and equipment to help animals find physical, mental, and emotional balance, as a way of enhancing communication, and cooperation. TTouch can also influence behaviour and assist with health issues.
Through a series of unique bodywork, groundwork and functional exercises that will help create physical balance through good posture, relaxation and overall enhancement of trust.
One of the method’s core principles is; Change the posture, Change the behaviour. Time again we have seen the powerful connection between physical, mental, and emo0onal balance.
The aim is not to just train an animal a specific cue for obedience, the aim is to help animals learn, and begin to have the self-control to act instead of simply re-acting to stimuli.
Building this self-confidence and self-control means that an animal can adapt and adjust to a variety of situations and settings, even if they have not specifically been exposed to them prior.
